Safecamp Foundation Initiative: Water for Oaxaca

A Roark Non-Profit

The Safecamp Foundation is a non-profit organization born from Roark’s goal to leave the communities we visit better than when we found them. Our Mission is to facilitate programs that empower travelers to give back to the people they meet by improving life opportunities through health, educational enrichment and community building initiatives.

This Summer, we sent Revivalist Nate Zoller down to Oaxaca following our recent trip to the region to help create access to clean water for the locals. During our stay in Oaxaca, we were met with amazing waves, great culture and hospitable people. We are proud to give back to the places that inspire our collections that allow us to continue our journey.

"I strive to positively impact the areas that I visit regularly to surf. And thanks to the Roark Safecamp Foundation, which is dedicated to giving back to the areas that inspire us the most, I was able to help in my own way." - Nate Zoller

Nate Zoller: "I tend to head down to Oaxaca a couple times a year, chasing swells and tacos amid the warm water points breaks. Many of the waves are surrounded by rural townships that rely on well systems to get their drinking water, and often these are filled with harmful bacteria. After seeing this firsthand I teamed up with Roark, Gil Cardenas and Waves For Water to help install filter systems at local schools. Over the course of the week we were able to install several 300 gallon water tanks with filters at remote schools that had no prior direct access to clean drinking water."
